Million rand dagga bust in Kimberley

KIMBERLEY- The Kimberley SAPS Crime Prevention unit’s vigilance and pro-active actions stopped a huge dagga deal in its tracks.

On Thursday, 5 September 2019 at about 02:00, the patrolling SAPS members spotted the suspicious-looking silver Toyota and decided to search it. The police found nine bags of dagga inside the boot and arrested the two adult male occupants for dealing in dagga.

The dagga weighs 140kg and has an approximate street value of almost one million rands. The motor vehicle was also confiscated as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of a crime.

The Acting Station Commander for Kimberley Station, Col Belinda Rikhotso lauds the members from her Crime Prevention Unit for a job well done. “We will continue to squeeze the space of criminals in the Diamond City and ensure that our streets are safe and secure from these activities”, said Rikhotso.
