Suspects to appear in court for dealing in drugs, bribery and possession of dagga

NELSPRUIT – Two men aged 37 and 42 are expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 September 2019, for dealing in drugs, bribery and possession of dagga, in separate incidents.

In the first incident, a 42-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 30 August 2019 by the Nelspruit Visible Policing members who were conducting an operation at Short Brown Street. They stopped a suspicious vehicle and requested to search it. Upon searching it, they found 60 small packets containing a substance believed to be heroin with an estimated street value of R2 500. He was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.

It is reported that the suspect further offered the SAPS relief commander at the station R4 300 cash in exchange for his release and an additional charge for bribery was added.

In another incident, a 37-year-old prison warder was also arrested on the same day, after trying to smuggle dagga into the prison. His arrest came after he was found at the prison facility’s gate in possession of four packets of dagga with an estimated street value of R20 000, police were called and the suspect was swiftly arrested for possession of dagga.
