The driver of a BMW was killed and a passenger critically injured after the vehicle overturned multiple times on Hazelmere Road in Verulam this morning (Sunday).
At approximately 06:59 the Reaction Unit South Africa Operations Center received multiple calls from residents of Mslasini in Everest Heights requesting assistance for the two individuals. On arrival a male and female were found lying outside the vehicle.
The driver was killed in the accident while his female passenger was critically injured. RUSA Medics stabilized the woman on scene before rapidly transporting her to hospital.
It is alleged that the BMW was travelling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle traveled down an embankment before crashing through an empty shack. It overturned several times before coming to a stop in a stream.
The identity of both individuals have been established.
