Four suspects arrested for robbing a student in Durban CBD

Four suspects aged between 20 and 26 are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court today facing a robbery charge. They were arrested on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 after they were pointed out by the victim.

It is alleged that the victim and his friends on-route to the Durban University of Technology when they were approached by four armed suspects. The victim was threatened with a knife and robbed of his cellphone, clothing and laptop.

His friends ran away when they realised that the suspects were going to rob them. The suspects fled the scene in their getaway motor vehicle after the robbery. Berea police officers who were conducting crime prevention duties in the vicinity were flagged down by the victim who reported the matter.

The police officers launched a manhunt with the victim in an attempt to trace the vehicle used by the suspects. The vehicle was spotted in the area with four occupants. The vehicle was stopped and searched by police. Property belonging to the victim was found in the vehicle and all four suspects were arrested.
