Police bust four suspects in Krugersdorp for illegal mining and possession of unlicensed firearms

GAUTENG – Police from Krugersdorp Crime Prevention conducted an operation in Krugersdorp Old Gold Mine at West Village today, 01 October 2019, at about 10:00.

During the operation police pounced on a group of more than thirty illegal miners. Four suspects aged between 30 and 35 were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition of different calibre such as R5, R1, short-gun and a pistol as well as explosives.

The area is known for a gang of illegal miners who terrorize the community during the night and hide at the Old Mogale Mine in West Village in Krugersdorp.

Gauteng police management commended the good work by the Krugersdorp Crime Prevention for continuing to bring a halt to illegal mining and recover illegal firearms in the area.

The arrested suspects will appear in Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 03 October 2019.
