Reaction officer shot with an AK47 in Verulam

A member of Reaction Unit South Africa has been shot with an AK47 wielding armed robbery suspect on Todd Street – Verulam.

The Reaction Officer was in pursuit of a 1.5 Nissan Bluebird taken in a robbery an hour ago from Parkgate in KZN when he came under fire from several gunmen.

The Reaction Officer returned fire and shot the engine of the vehicle. The suspects continued to fire on back up officers who sustained serious injuries. A part of the officer’s right arm has shot off and he has been transported rapidly to hospital in a critical condition. Reaction Officers recovered the vehicle with multiple bullet holes a kilometre from the scene.

RUSA has launched a manhunt in an attempt to track down & arrest the heavily armed suspects.
