Two parolees arrested for Isipingo carjacking

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula has applauded police officers for closing the net on criminals who hijack vehicles in the province. Three suspects were arrested in two separate incidents after they were found in possession of hijacked vehicles.

In the early hours of this morning, a vehicle was hijacked at Isipingo. It is alleged that the victim parked his vehicle on Prospecton Road and was about to alight when two suspects approached him and instructed him to get out of his vehicle. A struggle ensued, however, the suspects fled the scene with the victim’s vehicle.

The Provincial Vehicle Task Team spotted the hijacked vehicle on R Section in Umlazi. Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however the suspects sped off and crashed the vehicle on Mangosuthu Highway. Two suspects aged 37 and 40 were placed under arrest by police. The two men were out on parole, face charges of robbery and possession of the suspected stolen property.

Yesterday, a multi-disciplinary operation was conducted at Mpumalanga following up investigations into a hijacked vehicle. The team spotted the said vehicle at Section 3 in Mpumalanga and pulled the vehicle over. Police confirmed that the vehicle was hijacked at Isipingo during June 2019. A 37-year-old suspect was placed under arrest. She is expected to appear at the Mpumalanga Magistrates Court soon for being in possession of the suspected stolen property.
