An intelligence-driven operation on Friday, 22 November 2019, by Mahikeng Flying Squad, Lichtenburg Visible Policing and Organised Crime Unit led to the arrest of three suspects between the ages of 18 and 35 in Lichtenburg for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Three hunting rifles, one pistol, one pistol magazine and several rounds of ammunition were seized.
A preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that the firearms were reportedly stolen during a house robbery in July this year at a farm in Bospoort.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Lichtenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 November 2019.
