Two men nabbed after breaking into tourists’ vehicles in Storms River

EASTERN CAPE – Police nabbed two men with stolen goods and also recovered implements used for breaking into vehicles driving a rental vehicle on the N2 yesterday.

On Wednesday, 13 November 2019 at around 11:30 am, it is alleged that two men were seen stealing items from two vehicles that were parked in a fuel station near N2 in Stormsriver. It is said that the two men (suspects) then drove away in a silver VW Polo. A few minutes later, a vehicle was circulated in all police communication channels. Moments later, police spotted a similar vehicle with two men driving on the N2 near Humansdorp and pulled it off the road. Inside a vehicle, police recovered several goods. A preliminary investigation revealed that the recovered goods were stolen from the two tourists vehicles at the fuel station in Storms River. Police also recovered a vehicle remote jamming device and other implements that could be used for breaking into vehicles.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a vehicle that was used as a rental vehicle, but it was fitted with false registration number plates. The two men aged 28 and 29 are due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 November 2019 on charges ranging from theft out of the motor vehicle to possession of the suspected stolen property.
