Four men to appear in court for possession of imitation firearm and possession of pangolin.

Harare SAPS Crime Prevention Unit have intensified their efforts to safeguard the communities during the festive season. Today, 12 December 2019 at approximately 12:00, they were conducting stop and search operation in 23 block , Mandela Park, Khayelitsha when they saw a suspicious man, upon searching him, police found an imitation firearm as well as two cellular phones that don’t belong to him. A 19-year-old was arrested for possession of imitation firearm and suspected stolen property. Once he is charged he is expected to make a court appearance in Khayelitsha Magistrate Court.

In an unrelated matter, members attached to Flying Squad today followed upon on information they received about the vehicle that is transportation endangered animals from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The vehicle was destined for Durban Road, Bellville. The vehicle was intercepted and pulled over in Durban Road, Bellville and upon searching it, large pieces of pangolins worth an estimated street value of R65500-00 were found. Three men ages 42, 47 and 57 were arrested and once they are charged, they are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court.
