Taxi Driver Flees Collision Scene in Verulam, KZN

The driver of a minibus taxi fled the scene of a collision after his vehicle t-boned a truck at the Wick and Ireland Street intersection in the Verulam CBD this morning (Sunday).

At approximately 09:37 members of Reaction Unit South Africa arrived at the scene and found that several occupants of a Toyota Hiace were injured. Paramedics from a private ambulance service stabilized the injured before transporting them to hospital. The driver of the taxi abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the Isuzu FV2 water tanker explained that he was travelling through the intersection when the taxi drove through a red robot and collided into his vehicle. The truck belongs to the Ethekwini Water & Sanitation Department. The driver was not injured in the collision.

Law Enforcement is currently attempting to locate the driver of the extensive damaged Toyota Hiace.
