Four suspects arrested for possession of illegal firearms and dealing in drugs in Bonteheuwel and Ravensmead

Our relentless efforts in ensuring the removal of illegal firearms and illegal substances in the Western Cape Province became successful when provincial units were deployed for interventions at Ravensmead on Friday, 3 January 2020.

At about 19:50 the members received information of a firearm at premises in Plumbago Street, Bonteheuwel. The members acted upon the information and rushed to the mentioned address and upon their arrival, they searched the premises. A 22-year-old female was arrested and a Uzzi was confiscated.

Further investigations indicated that the firearm was reported stolen in Mpumalanga.

The suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 January 2020 for possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

In the same operation that was conducted by the members a suspect aged 39 was arrested in Uitsig for possession of illegal substances. Five tik sachets, two mandrax tablets and a suspected stolen computer screen were confiscated. The suspect was arrested and he is due to make a court appearance on Monday, 6 January 2020 for dealing in drugs and possession of presumed stolen property.

Meanwhile, at Uitsig in Ravensmead on Friday, 3 January 2020 at about 20:03, the members of K9 Unit, Flying Squad and Tactical Responses Team (TRT) arrested a 37-year-old male who was found in possession of illegal substances. 140 mandrax tablets estimated to be worth R7000 were seized. The suspect was subsequently arrested and he is expected to make a court appearance on Monday, 6 January 2020 for dealing in drugs.

Also in Uitsig an 18-year-old suspect was arrested in a stop and search by the same provincial units in the same operation for possession of khat. The value of the drug is yet to be determined. He will appear in court on Monday, 6 January 2020 for possession of drugs.
