The body of an unidentified man with two gunshot wounds was discovered by a passerby on Venus Road in Riet River, Verulam a short while ago (Tuesday).
At approximately 20:13 the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received a call from a bystander requesting assistance for the man who was suspected of being the victim of a pedestrian vehicular accident.
Upon arrival RUSA Medics assessed the individual and found that he had been shot in the back and chest. He showed no signs of life and died at the scene.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear at this stage. The victim was still in possession of his cellphone and cash.
Police are on scene and investigating further.
