Multimillion drugs seized in Cape Town operations with three arrests

WESTERN CAPE – Cape Town: In intelligence-led operations, Western Cape Flying Squad members continue to make a much-needed dent to the drug trade. While strategically deployed along the N2 highway last night (Thursday, 09 January 2020) the members pulled over a vehicle in the vicinity of Spine Road near Khayelitsha.

Upon searching the vehicle they found 69 000 mandrax tablets packed in a thousand plastic bags. They also seized the vehicle transporting the drugs. A 45-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected in court on Monday, 13 January 2020 on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.

In another operation also on Thursday evening in the Kleinvlei area, two Eersteriver suspects aged 54 and 57 were arrested for being in possession of the following:

* 36 X Ecstasy tablets
* 1X bag containing cannabis
* 1X gold bar
* R 17 610 cash
* Speed point machine

The suspects will appear in court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs.

Western Cape police management has commended the efforts of the police officials who under difficult circumstances venture out in an effort to rid communities of the scourge of drugs that destroys lives and breeds others serious violent crimes.
