A 33-year-old man died at Osindisweni Government Hospital after he was shot by unknown assailants on Station Road in Canelands – Verulam.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received a call from a female reporting multiple shots being fired near the informal settlement. On arrival Reaction Officers were informed that a man had been shot at least six (6) times and was rushed privately to hospital. It was later established that the victim had succumbed to his injuries shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
The motive for the shooting has not been established at this stage.
