Major blow for drug dealers as police nab two pupils and seized drugs worth R3 million

DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula is ecstatic about the recovery of drugs and the arrest of the suspects. “We are continuing to fight drug trade in our province and we will not stop to put those responsible behind bars,” he said.

Members of the Drug firearm unit combined with the Point Task team stopped drug dealers in their track and dealt a massive blow to the drug trade in the province. Members conducted an operation yesterday which led to an arrest of two males aged between 39 and 44 at Ballito and seized drugs valued at approximately three Million Rand.

Members acted on an information about drug dealing in the Ozard way in Ballito area and proceeded to scene where they recovered 6400 pieces of rock cocaine, five full circles of rock cocaine, 12 large broken pieces of rock cocaine, seven clear plastic packets containing suspected cocaine powder weighing approximately 5kgs and two sealed bricks suspected cocaine wrapped in plastic weighing approximately 2kgs.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at R 3 million. The two suspects were placed under arrest at Umhlali police station for possession of drugs and dealing in drugs. The suspects are set to appear today in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court.
