The KZN road safety programme is set to have a paradigm shift as the Department’s road safety officials are undergoing a skills development course, which is conducted by the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

Road Safety Director, Thoko Mabaso had this to say about the training: “It is a well-documented fact that road safety is a worldwide epidemic and to curb this scourge it needs an all-hands-on-deck approach. As a transformational leader, I believe in uplifting employees through training and development opportunities.” es they are offering are based on theory, practised and work-based. “This leads to happier staff that have the freedom and expertise to bring innovative ideas to the table. A positive outcome of staff attending the RTSO course is a skilled workforce that is able to hone in on specific road safety challenges and apply their newly found knowledge holistically. This is not only beneficial to KZN but countrywide, as it professionalises a fraternity that has traditionally not been recognised as one that requires specialised skills. The attendance of this course has re-energised employees and created a stronger working culture, with staff comprehending that the department supports their growth and success as individuals and public servants.”
