Pedestrian knocked from pavement seriously injured in Hillcrest

A 20-year-old man was flung down an embankment after being struck by a vehicle while allegedly walking on the pavement down Inanda Road, Hillcrest, yesterday evening. The driver also allegedly fled the scene but was chased down and stopped by a tow truck driver.

ER24 paramedics arrived at around 17:00 yesterday after a call from the scene by voluntary emergency service, VEMA. The man was found lying down a steep embankment conscious and stable, but having suffered multiple fractures. The paramedic teams were assisted by RescueTECH who set up a pully system to bring the man to road level once securely immobilised on a stretcher. He was transported through to R.K. Khan Hospital for further care.

Metro Police were on the scene for further investigations.
