Suspects arrested for dealing in drugs

FREE STATE – Our quest to eradicate the illegal substances and drug trade in the Free State, yielded success when two suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs in Phuthaditjhaba for dealing in drugs.

On Wednesday, 04 February 2020, Welkom POP Reaction Team (AGU) deployed in Phuthaditjhaba noticed suspicious movement of alleged drug peddlers in Beirut at about 15:30. Members approached them and they ran away leaving behind a Black Citi Golf. The team kept observation on the vehicle until at about 20:00 when two men arrived to take the vehicle.

Members approached them on foot and ordered them to switch off the vehicle but the men drove away. Members on foot called for back-up on members in the vehicles and they drove around searching for the vehicle and located it at about 22:30 in Boiketlo village. Members searched the house and the vehicle and found nyaope sachets and an undisclosed amount of cash. Live ammunition was also found. A 22-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing with drugs and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Members proceeded to a house in Sebokeng and arrested a 25-year-old man for dealing in drugs after nyaope sachets and cash found in his possession.

Both suspects will appear in Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court soon.
