Tschops Sipuka (left), explains to a group of GMSA employees the importance of tyre maintenance

Do you know how to change a Tyre? :

Step 1: Find a solid/level surface. Turn on your hazard lights.

Step 2: Apply the parking brake and put your vehicle into “Park” If you have a “Manual transmission” put your vehicle into 1st gear.

Step 3: Place a heavy object in front of and behind all tyres. E.g Wheel Wedges / Bricks etc.

Step 4: Take out the spare tyre and jack.

Step 5: Place the jack under the vehicle. Make sure the jack is placed firmly on the ground.

Step 6: Remove the Hubcap and loosen the wheel nuts counterclockwise.

Step 7: Raise the vehicle with the jack so that the tyre is lifted off the ground.

Step 8: Remove the tyre, place the spare tyre on the Hub.

Step 9: Tighten the nuts by hand until they are all placed. Use a wheel wrench to tighten the nuts in a star pattern, one across from another.

Step 10: Lower the vehicle gently without applying full weight on the tyre, tighten the nuts so that they are secure.

Step 11: Fully lower the vehicle and remove the jack.
