Monitoring operations on #COVID19 disaster management regulations still continues

LIMPOPO – Limpopo MEC of Transport and Community Safety Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, MEC of Health Dr Phophi Ramathuba, Vhembe Executive Mayor Cllr Dowelani Nenguda, Makhado Local municipality Mayor Cllr Ntavhanyeni Samuel Munyai, The Limpopo South African Police Service Provincial Commissioner Lt. GEN Nneke Ledwaba today, Monday 13 April 2020, embarked on joint operations in Makhado Cluster, comprising SANDF Members, Health Inspectors, members of the South African Police Service from different units including POP, TRT and operational members to monitor the compliance on the National Disaster Management Act on Covid-19.

The entourage proceeded to the local Taxi rank where Taxi drivers were found to be in compliance. The taxis were also disinfected on the spot. The two stores that were visited and were also found to be compliant with the Regulations.
The second part of the Programme was the Visit at Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital. Taxi rank was visited and no taxi was loading and Taxi drivers were complying. The store managers were encouraged to have a loud hauler to encourage social distancing and most shoppers were encouraged to use their local retail stores as most were found to be flocking to town leaving the same stores behind.

The entourage continued to the joint roadblock along the N1 road next to the traffic cycle where SAPS members including the TRT and POPS, SANDF, Correctional service, Home affairs, Provincial and Local Municipality Traffic, Department of social Development were busy monitoring the compliance.

The Provincial commissioner took charge, arrested one person who was driving an overloaded vehicle, he was issued with a fine and paid on the spot. Two more people were also issued with a fine for failing to confine themselves in their place of residence and 07 fines were issued for contravening the Road Traffic Act.
