Why should I avoid driving with low tyre pressure?

The “correct pressure” – tyre pressure – could spare the tyre and the rand.

The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System in your vehicle is a warning light to check your tyre pressure immediately.

Each tyre has a sensor that measures the tyre pressure, The Low-Pressure light will only come on if a tyre reaches 25% below the manufacturers recommended pressure.

Most modern vehicles will display a message saying ‘low tyre pressure’ and even indicate which tyre is experiencing low pressure.

This warning light will pop-up in the gauge cluster of the vehicle’s dashboard.

Low tyre pressure can lead to the following:

1. The decrease in fuel efficiency
2. Unsafe driving conditions
3. Can cause your vehicle to hydroplane
4. Cause uneven wear on your tyres
5. Can lead to a tyre blow-out

Prevention :

1. Don’t wait for the light to come on
2. Ensure the tyre pressure is checked regularly
