In a continuous effort to curb the illegal proliferation of firearms, Tsebiso Matshela (23) appeared in the Orkney Magistrates’ Court today for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition as well as possession of gold nuggets. He was remanded in custody until Thursday, 27 May 2020 for a formal bail application.
Matshela was apprehended on Tuesday, 19 May 2020, at about 12:30 in Extension 4, Kanana near Orkney. That was after police operationalised information which led them to the accused’s rented room where a search was conducted.
During the search, a pistol, two magazines, ammunition, a substantial amount of cash and gold nuggets with an estimated street value of R320 000-00 were found .
