COVID-19 lockdown operations across Limpopo

The COVID 19 operation received a fresh injection of energy when members at the roadblock in the Tzaneen Cluster along R81 were visited by the high ranking SANDF Officer, Luitenant General Maphwanya accompanied by the Provincial Vispol Operations coordinator Colonel Martin Van Staden.

The operation which was under the command of the SAPS Tzaneen Cluster Commander Major General Maggy Mathebula, was made out of the following stakeholders: Crime Prevention members, SANDF, the Provincial and Municipal Traffic and the Provincial Transport Unit (PTU).
As the operation was unfolding, three taxis were impounded for operating without proper documentation. They were charged and paid R5000.00 fine each for contravening disaster management act and further given the summons to the amount of R1000.00 each (j534) for operating without proper documentation.

A 50-year-old driver was given summon to the amount of R1000.00 for overloading of passengers and contravention of the Disaster management act. One hundred and sixty-eight (168) motor vehicles were stopped and searched whereas six hundred and seventy-four (674) people were searched. Interviews were conducted on one hundred and fifty-four (154) people for compliance with the COVID 19 regulations.
