The body of a newborn baby boy was discovered in Uitenhage

UITENHAGE – The South African Police Service in Uitenhage is investigating an inquest after the body of a newborn baby boy was discovered by a group of children at about 15:25 on Thursday, 14 May 2020.

Children were playing in the channel next to Gamble Street, Central, Uitenhage when they saw a 20L drum and discovered the body of the newborn in it. A post mortem will be held to determine the exact cause of death. The circumstances surrounding the discovery and how the body landed up there are not clear and it is under investigation.
