DURBAN – This morning police officers from the EThekwini Cluster Task Team conducted an operation in South Beach at Point which led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of drugs. Police proceeded to a flat after intelligence-driven information about drugs in the area, where a 55-year-old male was found in possession of pure cocaine powder.
The estimated street value of the drugs is R1.5 million rand. It is suspected that the suspect was in a process of packaging the drugs when they were seized from his flat. He was then taken to Point Police station where he is detained and facing charges of dealing in drugs. The suspect is due to appear today before the Durban Magistrate Court.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrest of the suspect and applauded the dedication of the police officers to root out the drug trade.
