Man falls down 400m cliff face in Mariannhill

Earlier this afternoon, IPSS Medical Rescue’s search and rescue division responded to the Luganda area in Mariannhill for reports of a man having fallen down a cliff face.

On arrival of our team, Durban SAPS Search and Rescue, Durban K9 SAR, Life Response emergency service, Metro SAR and eThethekwini Fire& Rescue, had already managed to reach the victim from the bottom of the 400m cliff face.

The deceased was placed in a rescue stokes basket and carried to level ground, via a steep incline.

The events leading up to the incident is unknown at this stage and the police will be investigating.
