Informal dwelling burnt in Mountview

A wood and iron dwelling was completely destroyed in a fire on Jacaranda Avenue in Mountview, Verulam.

Several residents in the area contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center reporting the fire. On arrival Reaction Officers discovered the entire informal structure ablaze. The dwelling was attached to the main building. With buckets of water Reaction Officers and members of the public managed to contain the fire until the arrival of the Ethekwini Fire Department.

The blaze is believed to have spread from an intentional fire made to cook a meal.
