Robbers terrorise shoppers in Verulam – KZN

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa are searching for a gang consisting of five men who have committed a spate of robberies in the Verulam CBD over the past few weeks.

Today the gang attacked a man while walking on Todd Street and robbed him of his valuables including his hair dye. A few minutes later a second individual ran to RUSA Offices requesting assistance after he had also been robbed of his cellphone on the corner of Ireland Street and Moss Street.

The suspects approached the 30-year-old victim, grabbed him from the rear, and removed his navy blue Samsung J1 cellphone from his pocket. In the process, they tore his pants.

The gang operates in the Verulam CBD and target distracted shoppers and business employees. In some cases, they have stabbed individuals who resist. The robberies occur at any time of the day and in full view of the public. One suspect is described to be tall and dark.

The public is urged to exercise caution when walking in the Verulam CBD.
