Robbery suspect apprehended in Brindhaven

A suspect believed to be part of a robbery syndicate was apprehended by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Brindhaven.

The suspect was being sought for a robbery that occurred on Todd Street on Saturday (15/08/2020) where a Samsung cellphone was taken.

This morning the victim noticed one of the robbers on Oaklands Drive and contacted RUSA for assistance. The suspect was pursued and apprehended at a Temple on Everest Lane.

He confirmed that he was one of the five men who had robbed the victim. The cellphone was sold to an unknown taxi driver for R700 and the cash was used to purchase drugs.

The suspect also confirmed that they were responsible for several robberies and preyed on the elderly as well as women as they were seen as weak targets.

The suspect is currently detained at the Verulam SAPS.
