Five suspects arrested for the possession of drugs and stolen property

To participate in efforts to address the root causes of crime in this province, police members attached to Public Order Police and Provincial Integrated Team conducted operations that resulted to several arrests and confiscation of drugs, an imitation firearm and presumed stolen property.

POPS members acted on information about a person selling drugs in Delft on Friday, 18 September 2020. The members approached the suspect who made an attempt to run away. Police arrested him in at Bloemendal Street Voorbrug Delft and upon searching him, 200 mandrax tablets were found. The suspect aged 25 is due to appear in the Bellville magistrates’ court tomorrow.

On Saturday, 19 September 2020, members attached to the Provincial Integrated Team conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Khayelitsha and went to an address where they found three hand radios, mandrax tablets and tik, an imitation firearm, pepper spray, a black bulletproof vest and police uniform.

Two suspects were arrested for the possession of the imitation firearm, drugs and presumed stolen property.

In unrelated incident members of the Provincial Integrated Team were conducting observations on the corner of Voortrekker Road and Vasco Blvd when they saw two suspects in a Mazda. Upon investigation, they found 45 packets of tik, 64 mandrax tablets and rocks. Two suspects ages 29 and 42, a female and a male were arrested for the possession of drugs.

All five suspects are expected to appear in the respective courts tomorrow, 21 September 2020.
