Suspect arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods

JEFFREYS BAY – A dog fearing suspect forced himself in thorny plants to avoid the four-legged K9 officer during a chase near Aston Bay bushes yesterday.

On Monday, 14 September 2020 around 10:30 am, it is alleged that members from the Humansdorp K9 unit were patrolling in the Aston Bay area (Jeffreys Bay) when they spotted two suspicious people at the corner of Marina Lane and Dolphin Drive. The two men, on seeing the police, threw items on the grounds and ran towards the nearby bushes.

A four-legged K9 officer, Paul was taken out of the vehicle to join the chase. One of the two suspects in a dare attempt to avoid Paul’s teeth, he forced himself into a thorny plant.

At the scene, police seized a Samsung flat-screen TV and a backpack containing an Acer laptop and a DVD player. Police nabbed the trapped trapped man after a panga was used to free him from the nasty thorns. A 23-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 16 September 2020 on charges of possession of the suspected stolen property.
