Two shot and killed outside their home in Canelands

The bullet-riddled bodies of two men were discovered outside their home in Canelands, Verulam.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Verulam Operations Center received a call from a man speaking Isizulu requesting assistance for two men who had been shot at an informal settlement on Station Road.

Reaction Officers and Medics were dispatched to the scene. On arrival, both men were found lying outside their informal home. They had been shot multiple times and died at the scene. Eleven spent 9mm cartridges were recovered in the vicinity of the bodies. One cartridge was recovered inside a room where one of the deceased’s resided. Blood was also discovered on his bed. Residents of the informal settlement gathered at the scene but claimed to have seen or heard nothing.

The motive for the shooting has not been established at this stage.
