On Monday today at about 13:45 the complainant Andries Smith Myburgh 31-years-old was busy having lunch at his farmhouse at Vandermerwesdam farm, Koffiefontein District, when he smelled smoke outside. He went to investigate and was hit with an object on the head but managed to push the suspect away. He was allegedly attacked with a knife by the second suspect and in the process, he was poured with petrol.
The victim managed to pull his firearm and the suspects fled. He fired a number of shots in the direction of the suspects and whilst firing he realised that he is on fire and he jumped into the swimming pool.
The two suspects fled on foot. The complainant alerted the police and neighbors.
One suspect was identified as big approximately 2m tall wearing green overall trousers and a light blue shirt. The other one had a blue overall suit. Both suspects are unknown to the complainant.
The complainant had no serious injuries and was attended by medical personnel.
