Pedestrian Fights Off Kidnapper in Ottawa, KZN

The driver of a white VW Citi Golf with an ND registration attempted to force a pedestrian into his car on Old Main Road in Ottawa today.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out at approximately 15:02 to a business premises in the area where the victim sought assistance. On arrival the female explained that while walking to a tuck shop she noticed the suspects vehicle driving slowly behind her.

As she continued to walk along the main the driver of the vehicle stopped the car and approached her. He grabbed her by the hand and stated that he was not a robber. He instructed her to get into the vehicle. The victim managed to fight him off and fled towards a business premises. The suspect got into his vehicle and pursued her. He once again got off his car and attempted to grab her when witnesses intervened. The suspect then sped off. The victim believed to be in her twenties was not injured.

The vehicle information was circulated to Reaction Officers who conducted an extensive search for the suspect however no arrests were made.
