The Commission of Inquiry into taxi violence continues on 01 October 2020

The public hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into Taxi Violence in the Gauteng province will continue on Thursday, 01 October 2020 at 09:00.

The testimonies will be presented by the Principal Provincial Inspector for the Department of Community Safety (DCS) in
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Mr. David Legodi. He will be followed by his colleague, the Chief
Provincial Inspector Mr Ndose Mahlangu.

Both Messrs Legodi and Mahlangu’s testimony will include, but not be limited to activities of illegal operators, operating
on certain routes contribute to the recurring conflict and violence within the minibus taxi type industry, and the capacity and readiness of the Municipality to enforce Municipal Laws.

The legal team is in the process of identifying and/or consulting with other witnesses who will appear before the
Commission over the next few weeks.
