Burst Tyre leads to Three Vehicle Collision on the R102 at Verulam, KZN

Three vehicles were damaged after the tyre on a VW Polo burst while travelling on the southbound lane of the R102 between Verulam and Ottawa today (Sunday).

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from passing motorists reporting the collision. Reaction Officers and Medics responded to the scene at approximately 12:51 and on arrival found that the damaged vehicles were not obstructing the roadway.

It was established that the front tyre on the silver VW Polo had bust which resulted in the driver losing control of his vehicle which collided into a white VW Golf. The VW Golf then collided into a white Mercedes Benz before it crashed into an embankment.

The occupants of all three vehicles were not injured. The VW Golf and the VW Polo were extensively damaged.
