Elderly couple seriously injured during a multi-motorcycle collision in Franschhoek

An elderly couple has been seriously injured in a collision between two motorbikes on the Franschhoek Pass, just outside Franschhoek, this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived along with the Metro EMS and the Stellenbosch Fire and Traffic Departments at 10:20 this morning. The husband and wife, who had been travelling together on one of the motorbikes, were found to have suffered serious injuries. The other oncoming biker had managed to jump from his bike at the last moment and was luckily uninjured in the collision.

ER24 treated a 70-year-old man with Advanced Life Support interventions while Metro treated the woman, believed to be of a similar age, with Advanced Life Support interventions, before both were transported through to Mediclinic Stellenbosch for further care.

The local Franschhoek SAPS were also on-scene for further investigations.
