The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale will on Friday, 20 November 2020, launch the Integrated Safer Cities Project in Durban.
The Safer Cities Concept is aimed at the creation of an environment that enhances social and economic transformation in South Africa through building of partnerships between communities and government in policing.
The concept follows a dedicated integrated and multi-stakeholder approach aimed towards achieving safety through technology and other relevant platforms in order to achieve a smart city.
The National Safer City Framework will be piloted in 10 cities with the launch taking place in Durban in conjunction with the City of Ethekwini. This project aims to see law enforcement agencies maximizing on technology to fight crime.
A first of its kind Fusion Centre will also be unveiled. The Centre has been identified as an effective and efficient mechanism to exchange information and intelligence, maximize resources, streamline operations, and improve the ability to fight crime.

This will be preceded by visits starting at 09:00am to identified areas within Inanda by leaders of participating entities.
