Passenger trapped in a vehicle in Canelands, KZN

A passenger in a red VW Polo is currently trapped in the vehicle which left the road and landed several meters below a bridge on Hazelmere Road in Canelands.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene of the accident at approximately 22:13 tonight (Friday). On arrival a large crowd was found on the bridge. The driver of the VW Polo and one passenger managed to climb out of the wreckage and made their way to the roadside. A second passenger climbed into the driver’s seat but is unable to get out of the vehicle.

The extent of his injuries is unknown at this stage.

First responders are currently awaiting the arrival of the Ethekwini Fire Department and the SAPS Search & Rescue to assist in an organized rescue of the passenger. The driver is being treated by Medics for moderate injuries.
