Early this morning members of Maitland Flying Squad followed up information about firearms in Kraaifontein area. They searched a house and found two unlicensed pistols and ammunition.

Three suspects, aged 29, 33 and 34 were arrested on a case of Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and they are expected to appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s court on Monday.

In an unrelated matter yesterday, police attached to the Worcester Crime Prevention Unit acted on information and conducted a search at an address in Roodewal, Worcester. Meanwhile, swift response by members attached to Maitland Flying Squad led to the arrest of a 31-year-old suspect a few minutes after a hijacking and an attempted murder occurred last night in Bream Way, Nooitgedact.

The victims stopped in front of the residence when three suspects approached them and threaten them with a firearm. They shot and wounded the 28-year-old complainant in his leg.
