GAUTENG – Two suspects aged 37 and 44 are expected to appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 02 November 2020, and Tuesday, 03 November 2020 respectively for alleged fraud and theft of alcohol worth R6.8 million.
On Saturday, 31 October 2020, members from Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit along with City Deep Boarder Policing members stopped two delivery trucks loaded with exclusive liquor. A document verification revealed that the documents were fraudulent and altered.
Further investigations also exposed that both trucks registration numbers were false and were immediately impounded. One of the suspects was swiftly apprehended while attempting to flee the scene while the other managed to evade arrest, however, the super sleuth members did not rest and managed to trace and arrest the second suspect in Alberton on Sunday afternoon, 01 November 2020. Investigations are continuing.
