Three men arrested during a vehicle check point in Klawer

WESTERN CAPE – Provincial detectives attached to the Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit remain committed to bringing perpetrators of crime to book. On Wednesday 25 November 2020, the members conducted a Vehicle Check Point at Weight bridge in Klawer.

The members stopped and searched a Toyota Corolla with three occupants and found a box with 595 succulents. None of the occupants could produce documentation for the protected flora.

The three suspects aged 29, 31, and 41 were arrested and charged for contravention of Sec 42(1) read with Sec 72 of the Nature Conservation Ordinance 19 of 1974 – Possession of protected flora without documentation. The suspects are expected to appear in court on Friday, 27 November 2020. Value still to be determined.
