Two injured in a shootout between tow truck operators in Northcroft, KZN

Two people were shot and one person was stabbed during a shootout on Goslen Place in Northcroft, Phoenix this afternoon (Tuesday).

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Phoenix Operations Centre received multiple calls from residents in the area reporting a shootout between tow truck operators and the family member of a panel beater.

Upon arrival at approximately 18:12 two men were found seated in a Ford Bantam bakkie. The passenger was found shot twice in his right arm and once on his left thigh. He was in a stable condition.

The 48-year-old explained that there was an altercation between his nephew and a tow truck operator. He was called to the scene to resolve the issue however on his arrival more tow trucks arrived and a shootout ensued. His nephew was stabbed during the altercation.

A tow truck operator was allegedly shot in the leg but was transported privately to hospital. This information could not immediately be verified.

The Phoenix SAPS are on scene and investigating further.
