A man was found deceased in his flat on Westbrook Road, Oaklands by neighbors.
The deceased was self-isolating for the past 2 weeks in his flat after he tested positive for Covid-19. He shared the flat with his elderly, frail aunt.
Neighbors prepared meals for the two which were left for collection at their front door. This afternoon residents of the complex noticed that the food was in the same place. The door was ajar and the front gate was locked.
They pushed the door open and noticed the man lying on the floor of his living room. He did not respond when neighbors called out to him. The lock on the security gate was forced open and a neighbor who is employed at a funeral parlor entered the residence dressed in coveralls. He assessed the man and was unable to establish a pulse.
The neighbor proceeded to one of the bedrooms where he found the elderly female in bed. She was extremely weak and barely conscious.
According to residents at the complex, several people have self quarantined in their flats after they tested positive for Covid-19.
