A man believed to be linked to the taxi industry was shot and killed at a block of flats behind the Waterloo Spar in Waterloo, Verulam last night (Tuesday).
Residents in the area contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 20:49 reporting multiple shots being fired. One caller stated that a man was shot and required medical assistance.
Reaction Officers and Medics were dispatched to the scene and on arrival found the victim lying in the parking lot of the housing complex. He was shot four times in the chest and once in the head. He was declared deceased on scene by Medics.
The deceased is believed to be in his forties. The motive for the shooting has not been confirmed however it is suspected to be linked to taxi violence. He was allegedly visiting his girlfriend at the time of the incident.
A case of murder is being investigated.
