The vigilance and the swift reaction of members attached to the Rapid Rail Police Unit landed a drug dealer behind bars after he was caught in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R147 000-00 this morning. The members were doing crime prevention duties in Cruis Street, Garden Village in Maitland when they spotted two suspicious men who fled to a nearby flat in the area after noticing the police presence.

Once charged, the suspect is due to make a court appearance in Cape Town on a charge of dealing in drugs. The two suspects who initially led police to the flat have not been questioned or apprehended.
