Man nabbed for dealing in liquor

On 22 January 2021 at 20:30, the police officers from EThekwini District Rapid Response conducted operations in the Wentworth area.

Whilst conducting operational duties, members received information about a suspect who was dealing in liquor. The team proceeded to Merebank where they confiscated a large quantity of liquor, crates of beers, ciders as well as cash gained from the sale of liquor. The 55-year-old suspect was placed under arrest. He was charged for dealing in liquor. The estimated value of the seized liquor is R6 000-00. The suspect appeared before the Wentworth Magistrates Court on 25 January 2021 where he was granted a bail of R2 000-00. The matter was adjourned to 28 January 2021.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the team for the arrest of the suspect. “These operations are still ongoing in our province,” he said.
