Security officer shot in Dube Village

A Security Officer was shot after robbers opened fire on their vehicle on the M25 in Inanda.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance. Available Reaction Officers were dispatched approximately 1 kilometer away from Dube Village where heavily armed suspects opened fire on a VW Polo belonging to Dragon Protection Services.

On arrival, several private security companies, as well as the South African Police, were found to be in attendance. It was established that four armed suspects robbed a Tattersalls in Dube Village and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Security Officers crossed paths with the robbers as they made their getaway. The suspects opened fire on the responding vehicle before splitting up and fleeing in different directions. One officer was shot in the leg. He is currently being treated by Paramedics.
