Reaction Officers were patrolling the Old Inanda Road when they were flagged down by the occupants of a Toyota Hiace taxi. Officers were informed that two passengers robbed the conductor of R150 in cash and assaulted him before they fled on foot. The mini-bus occupants pursued the suspects and noticed them get into the back of a Hyundai H100 bakkie and they flagged down passing Reaction Officers for assistance.

The victim lost sight of the vehicle but pointed out the direction in which it traveled. Officers went in search of the suspects and noticed the bakkie parked on Trenance Drive. The driver stated that the two passengers were hitchhiking when he stopped to give them a lift and denied knowledge of the robbery. The duo was dropped off at the entrance of Trenance Park.

While interviewing the driver, RUSA Members noticed the firearm between the cab and the bin. Upon inspection, it was established that the firearm was a replica. The victim provided a description of the men who had robbed him.
